FOUNDATION “REMEMBRANCE, RESPONSIBILITY AND FUTURE”
(Our partner from1999)
During the National Socialist dictatorship and World War II, millions of forced labourers worked under mostly inhuman conditions in those areas under German occupation.
With the creation of the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future”, the Federal Republic of Germany and German companies are signalling their historical and moral responsibility for these events and widening the scope of the previous reparation arrangements.
The Law on the Creation of a Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” of 2 August 2000 provides for individual and humanitarian payments to former forced labourers and other victims of National Socialism. The Foundation’s capital of DEM 10 billion was made available in equal amounts by the Foundation Initiative of German Industry and the German Federal Government.
The Foundation has a central task: to compensate through unbureaucratic procedures the victims of specific National Socialist injustices within the framework of several worldwide payment programmes.
